No cover for SIDS program
A program designed to cut the incidence of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) in the ACT has been stopped because the organisers couldn’t obtain public liability insurance.
The medical-grade breathing monitors had to be dropped because the group can’t afford to insure the program, the group’s CEO, Jan Carey, said. She told Sunrise Exchange News that although similar monitors can be purchased at pharmacies and baby stores, they are not of a medical-grade standard.
“We went to a broker, and it wasn’t a case of unfordable premiums – he couldn’t get cover full stop.”
