NMVTRC teams with uni on car rating system

The National Motor Vehicle Theft Reduction Council has combined its theft risk rating system with Monash University’s safety rating guide to help car buyers make more informed decisions.

The insurance industry-backed council says joining its CARS Theft Risk Rating with the university’s Used Car Safety Ratings system – both of which use five-star scoring – will help cut crime and accident injuries.

“It is now possible to choose a used vehicle that will provide higher safety protection to its driver and other road users and also a low risk of vehicle theft,” the council’s quarterly newsletter says. “Consumers are encouraged to consider choosing vehicles that score highest on both ratings.”
