The Insurance Council of Australia has added four new faces to its board, with the appointments reflecting just how quickly the industry’s face is changing.

The newcomers are Zurich CEO John Butler, IAG CEO Michael Hawker, the Australian and NZ Head of Swiss Re, Keith Scott; and Suncorp Metway Group Executive John Trowbridge.

The new directors replace former CGU MD Ian Balfe (who retired shortly after CGU was taken over by IAG); former Acting IAG CEO and now Deputy CEO Ian Brown; and Gerling CEO Felix Zaccar (the profitable Australian operation has been placed in run-off by the cash-strapped German parent).

Raymond Jones (QBE) was re-elected as President. John Butselaar (American Home) and Michael Wilkins (Promina) were also re-elected as Deputy Presidents.
