New award honours insurance leader
An international student exchange award has been devised to commemorate the memory of well-known insurance leader Peter Corrigan, who died suddenly last year. Consultants Trowbridge Deloitte have established the Peter Corrigan International Exchange Award, which will be run through the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance.
Mr Corrigan was only 46 when he died, but had already carved out an enviable reputation in the industry for his professionalism and his leadership in difficult situations. He worked at the most senior levels of NRMA, Zurich Australia and AMP/GIO before joining Trowbridge in February 2001.
The new award, announced at a luncheon in Sydney last week, is aimed at people under the age of 35 who work in the industry in Australia, New Zealand, the south-west Pacific, south-east Asia, North Asia or Japan.
A panel led by former Suncorp Chairman (and one-time NRMA Insurance CEO) John Lamble and QBE Chairman John Cloney will award $5000 each to two industry professionals for a four-week international exchange program of work, study and cultural exchange.
