Marsh employee wins Catlin Seaview Survey prize

Marsh Project Manager Davina Misra has won a trip to Bali to observe and participate in the Catlin Seaview Survey.

The project has been recording the health of the world’s coral reefs since 2012 and is currently studying the Coral Triangle around the Philippines, Timor-Leste and Indonesia.

Ms Misra triumphed in a competition run by Catlin in conjunction with insuranceNEWS.com.au, in which brokers had to answer a series of questions on Catlin in Australia.

Finalists were judged on their answers to the question: “What are the implications of ocean change for the insurance industry?”

Sydney-based Ms Misra, who joined Marsh in 2006 as a broker, says she has a strong interest in climate change.

“I have a personal interest in… its impact on the environment,” she told insuranceNEWS.com.au.

“Professionally, climate change has an impact on the insurance industry through the incidence of more natural catastrophes, which affects premiums and coverage for our clients.”

Ms Misra, who has moved from broking to insurance due diligence with Marsh, says large clients in Australia “are very cognisant of the impact of climate issues”.

Her prize includes two nights’ accommodation in Bali, return airfares and transfers.

“Davina will learn more about the survey and how it works,” Catlin Australia Marketing Executive David McNamara said. “She will have the opportunity to dive with the team and spend a couple of days with the research team. It’s going to be a fantastic experience.”
