Local law expert wins British book prize

Sydney lawyer Ian Enright has won the 2008 British Insurance Law Association (BILA) Book Prize awarded for the most notable contribution to literature in the field of insurance law.

Professional Indemnity Insurance Law was praised for its “commanding approach, thoroughness and high-quality analysis”. The award was presented at the BILA conference in London on Friday.

The book analyses all aspects of professional indemnity (PI) insurance law including key principles for professional conduct, insurance and indemnity law, and PI to help with understanding the foundations upon which contracts are drawn up and cases are disputed.

It contains sections on Australian law, insurers’ liability in costs to persons other than the insured, and insolvency in the context of PI insurance.

Mr Enright, a partner at Henry Davis York, wrote the book with English barrister Digby Jess.
