Liability group enjoys a resurgence
A specialist organisation working in the professional indemnity and directors’ and officers’ markets says recent developments have increased the need for specialist liability knowledge. The Australian Professional Indemnity Group (APIG), which was set up in 1995 in response to the growth in the PI and D&O markets, exists to meet the needs of intermediaries and insurance specialists.
Mylton Burns, President of APIG’s Queenland branch, said all directors and officers now realise they need to have D&O insurance “and brokers need to know enough about this kind of insurance to be able to sell it to them”.
“Also, with the new FSRA, brokers need to know more about the insurance cover they sell, so APIG is basically there to help brokers.”
The association mainly holds seminar lunches featuring expert guest speakers. Apart from Queensland, it has members and organises functions in NSW, Victoria and SA. Seminar papers and other relevant information are posted up on the APIG website at www.apig.com.au.
