International bushfire conference starts in Melbourne
The Fire and Climate 2022 Conference takes place in Melbourne from June 6-10.
Hosted by the International Association of Wildland Fire, speakers from across the country and international experts will gather to discuss new schemes to combat bushfires and climate challenges.
The emergency management conference is expected to be one of the largest in recent years, with more than 100 presentations prepared across the four days.
Key topics to be discussed include climate change's relationship with extreme bushfire behaviour, cultural land management, and ways to ensure community protection from fire events.
The event will hold expert panels addressing the impacts of fires in Indigenous communities in Australia and North America and the efficacy of current fire science communication.
The forum will take place at the Pullman Melbourne Albert Park Hotel.
