Insurers set to meet Sydney hail ‘name and shame’ deadline

Insurers are on track to meet the June deadline imposed on them by the NSW Government to repair properties damaged from the western Sydney hailstorms in December, claims the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA).

In February, NSW Emergency Services Minister Nathan Rees gave companies until the end of April for all damaged roofs to be replaced and until June for 95% of houses to be repaired or risk being “named and shamed”.

ICA spokesman Sean Sampson told insuranceNEWS.com.au insurers are set to meet the June deadline, apart from problems arising from asbestos found in roofs.

Some 91% of insured properties have now had their roofs repaired.
