Insurers’ Privacy Code gets the first official nod
The insurance industry is the first private sector group to have had its privacy code approved under the terms of the Federal Privacy Act. ICA Executive Director Alan Mason said the General Insurance Information Privacy Code “will have the full force of the law”. It will be managed through an independent privacy compliance committee under IEC.
Mr Mason said the most important requirement for insurers is to inform their customers of the rights that have changed under the code.
