Insurer pushes online policies
Australians are missing out on savings by not buying insurance online, says Allianz Australia.
The insurer’s poll of 1200 people finds 44% of respondents think buying insurance online is no cheaper than over the counter or telephone.
That view is especially common among internet savvy 18-to-34 year olds – at 53%.
Overall, only 32% believe online policies are cheaper.
Allianz GM for Direct Insurance John Myler claims customers are often missing out on savings of at least 10%. “Buying insurance online often costs less because there are no call-centre costs to factor in,” he said.
Allianz sells about 30% of its policies online. The survey shows better promotion is needed, Mr Myler said.
