Insurance Ombudsman calls it quits
Insurance Ombudsman Sam Parrino has resigned from the new Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS), with Chief Ombudsman Colin Neave taking over the role this week.
Mr Parrino declined to comment to insuranceNEWS.com.au on the reasons for his sudden decision to resign. He has headed up the general insurance dispute resolution body for 16 years, and his departure comes as a surprise to industry observers.
Mr Neave says he will be assisted by general insurance team senior managers Ragini Rajadurai, Graham Warner and Gary Gurowski.
In a note to staff, Mr Neave says the managers will assist him by “acting as conduits for raising issues” and he will meet with them each week to discuss developments and make sure he is aware of all insurance-related matters requiring action.
Mr Parrino started out as General Manager of Insurance Enquiries and Complaints Ltd in 1992, which then became known as the Insurance Ombudsman Service (IOS) before becoming part of FOS last year.
