Insurance businesses slow to build web presence
About 98% of businesses in the financial and insurance services sector have internet access, according to Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) data from 2011/12.
But only 60% have a web presence, suggesting a large number of microbusinesses, agents and brokers believe they do not require a website.
The ABS says only 45% of Australian businesses had a web presence at June 30 2012. The figure was even lower for businesses with up to four employees, at 34%.
