Institute grows

The former Australian Insurance Institute, now known as the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) following its takeover of its ailing kiwi cousin, is now streamlining its operations in Australia.

The streamlining will see the independence of the various state institutes, which previously operated under their own charters, curtailed as administration is brought under the Melbourne head office. Some will be liquidated and others disincorporated. Sources say the exercise is universally supported by institute employees, although there is some uncertainty as to how administration will be handled in the future.

“The Institute” – that’s what the letterhead says – will be launched at a big event in Sydney on February 21. Members of the largest branch – NSW – will meet two days earlier to vote on the disincorporation of AII (NSW).
