Increased complaints boost FOS numbers

The Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) is looking for more staff, including risk insurance specialists, to handle a growing number of complaints.

A FOS spokesman told insuranceNEWS.com.au 14 positions throughout the organisation are currently being advertised.

These include a contact officer for general insurance, dispute analysts for general insurance and life insurance, a manager for the panel case management team that handles life insurance and investments, and senior legal advisers to join the life insurance and investments group.

“We are catching up with vacancies as well as increasing some teams to handle the rising number of complaints,” she said.

“There has been no particular focus on insurance as there is an overall increase in complaints.”
