IDRO’s future is cloudy
The appointment by the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) of Karl Sullivan as GM Policy – Risk and Disaster Directorate to co-ordinate the industry’s post-disaster response and partnership with governments may see the Insurance Disaster Response Organisation (IDRO) undergo changes.
An ICA spokesman told Sunrise Exchange News the board is currently discussing the future of IDRO, but was not able to elaborate.
IDRO works in partnership with government agencies and with community response groups after a disaster.
Its national committee consists of seven permanent members selected by ICA, NIBA, the Australasian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters and the Insurance Ombudsman Service.
