ICA to host forum for River Murray floods
The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) has announced that it will host a community information session in Adelaide for communities affected by last summer’s River Murray floods.
The session will allow policyholders to speak with insurance representatives regarding claim information and assistance with the recovery process.
ICA acknowledges that the forum’s location is some distance from the affected region but says this is in response to data that shows 80% of claims related to holiday homes, and limited availability to host a forum of this size.
It says the observed damage covered “a very wide area with no obvious epicentre in which to base a local consultation”.
“We are hoping that holding the community event at a central location in Adelaide’s CBD means we can assist as many people as possible impacted by this protracted flood,” ICA CEO Andrew Hall said.
“Based on our experiences and practice following other recent flooding events in the eastern states, we know that these events can provide a lot of valuable information and help customers move their claim process along faster.”
The event will be hosted at U City, 43 Franklin Street, Adelaide, on May 8, with a community information session held between 5:15pm to 6:30pm, followed by insurance customer meetings until 8pm.
Attendants are asked to book in advance. Customers who cannot attend in person can also register to receive a call back from their insurer.
