ICA supports arson conviction rewards

The Insurance Council of Australia will continue to administer and support the Arson Reward Scheme in conjunction with federal and state police. The scheme offers rewards to individuals who provide information leading to the conviction of any person for destroying or damaging property through an act of arson.

The scheme aims to not only stop arson occurring but also to assist police with arson investigations and provide information to insurance companies for assessing claims.

ICA GM Communications Paul Giles says the scheme is an important community safety and support initiative for the insurance industry.

Members of the community who provide police with vital information relating to the conviction of an arsonist may “at the discretion of the insurer” be rewarded.
