ICA reschedules north Queensland flood forum
The Insurance Council of Australia will hold its rescheduled town hall meeting for flood-hit north Queenslanders on Thursday.
The information session in Ingham will help policyholders navigate claims processes and avenues of support.
Representatives from ICA, Legal Aid, Financial Counselling Australia, the Australian Financial Complaints Authority and the Queensland Building and Construction Commission will be there to answer customer questions.
Insurer representatives will be present before the meeting so policyholders can discuss their claims.
The forum was scheduled for earlier this month but was postponed due to Ex-Cyclone Alfred.
ICA mitigation and extreme weather response director Liam Walter says insurers have received more than 7600 claims, totalling $164 million, for storm and flood-related losses in north Queensland.
“While insurers are already assisting impacted customers in their recovery, we understand that having the opportunity to hear from representatives in person and ask questions can be invaluable in understanding the claims process and helping people get back on their feet,” he said.
The meeting is from 5pm-8pm at Hinchinbrook Shire Hall in Lannercost Street, Ingham. For one-on-one sessions, insurer representatives will be present from 10am-4pm.
Attendees are encouraged to register, but walk-ins will be accepted. Click here for registration information.
