ICA referral service hits search milestone
The Insurance Council of Australia’s online referral tool for consumers has generated 3 million searches and 98,000 phone enquiries since it went live three years ago.
CEO Rob Whelan says it is a major milestone for the Find an Insurer service.
“Find an Insurer provides an easy way for people to connect with insurers and their products,” Mr Whelan said.
“This take-up data shows Australians are taking an active interest in their insurance needs.”
The free tool was introduced in July 2012 at the request of the Financial Ombudsman Service, which had operated it previously.
Find an Insurer provides information on 251 general insurance categories offered by 114 insurers. The five most popular categories are public liability, home, residential strata, small business and pre-existing medical conditions for travel insurance.
