ICA puts a number on Victorian bushfire losses
Insured losses from the Victorian bushfires currently stand at $790 million based on figures from ICA.
Insurers have received 6230 claims from people affected by the bushfires, covering losses from residential, commercial and farming properties, and about $40 million in emergency payments has been paid to claimants.
Property and contents claims comprise 85% of claims received to date, with motor vehicle claims making up the remaining 15%.
ICA CEO Kerrie Kelly said in a statement the industry taskforce continues to work “closely with the Victorian and federal governments as part of the recovery effort, focusing on the many needs of the policyholder”.
The council says a number of factors continue to delay the recovery and rebuilding effort, including continued access restriction, asbestos removal and rebuilding standards.
