ICA kicks off code review
The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) has appointed former federal Attorney-General’s Department Secretary Robert Cornall to independently review the General Insurance Code of Practice.
ICA says the review will assess whether the code promotes better and more informed relations between insurers and their customers, improves consumer confidence in the general insurance industry, provides better mechanisms for the resolution of complaints and disputes and commits insurers to higher standards of customer service.
Written submissions must be lodged by July 1, after which Mr Cornall will consult with interested parties.
More than 90% of Australia’s general insurance providers have become signatories to the code.
