ICA hosts Seroja, Victoria storm consultations
The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) will this week visit WA communities affected by Cyclone Seroja and will also host consultations next week for policyholders impacted by Victorian storms in June.
Insurer claims managers and assessors will travel to WA towns where the recovery is continuing, with one-on-one consultations to be held, in line with covid-safe protocols. Insurers will be in Kalbarri and Northampton tomorrow and in Morawa and Mingenew on Wednesday.
As of February 22, there has been 9273 claims lodged for damage from Seroja, which crossed the coast unusually far south in early April last year.
To date 99.44% of claims lodged have been accepted and 83.75% of 6394 personal claims have been closed. The current estimated loss value is $346.7 million.
Virtual consultations for people affected by Victoria’s Gippsland and Yarra Ranges storms will be held on Thursday next week from 9am to 8pm.
ICA says the consultations give policyholders the opportunity to discuss the progress of their claims or ask questions they may have about the process. Registration is essential.
As of February 22, there have been almost 33,000 claims lodged for damage from the June storms and floods, with losses estimated at $292 million.
