ICA holds more forums for storm-hit Queenslanders
The Insurance Council of Australia will hold another round of consultations for southeast Queensland residents affected by storms last December and January.
It has organised forums in Upper Coomera, Jimboomba and Tamborine so customers can speak with insurer representatives about their claims.
The region was hit by major storms at the turn of the year, with more than 100,000 claims lodged for nearly $1.3 billion in insured losses.
Forums will also be held for Far North Queensland customers recovering from ex-Tropical Cyclone Jasper, which led to more than $369 million in insured losses.
Insurance Council CEO Andrew Hall says it is vital for insurers to help communities that have “shown their resilience in the face of the challenges thrown at them at the end of last year.
“It is important that we continue to provide households and businesses the support they need to move forward. The community consultations are one way customers are able to finalise claims through face-to-face engagement, and we look forward to being back in impacted communities again.”

- September 3, 10am-6pm at Brothers League Club Cairns, Anderson Street, Manunda
- September 4, 10am-5pm at Pullman Port Douglas Sea Temple Resort and Spa, Mitre Street, Port Douglas
