Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) members elected their 2006/07 board last week, with the only newcomer Elders Insurance Brokers GM Tim Plant. It’s an intriguing choice, with this being the first time a so-called “broking” company has joined the insurers’ board.

IAG CEO Michael Hawker retains the presidency, and Suncorp Metway CEO John Mulcahy remains Vice President. Executive Director Kerrie Kelly is now officially on the board, with close interest being maintained by the industry into how quickly she will move to set her own mark on ICA.

The other board members are Tom Brown of Zurich; Heinrich Eder of Munich Re; Raymond Jones of QBE; David Matcham of Lumley; John Peberdy of EIG-Ansvar; Keith Scott of Swiss Re; Terry Towell of Allianz Australia; and Michael Wilkins of Promina Group.
