ICA considers code review recommendations

The Insurance Council of Australia board is considering the recommended changes to the General Insurance Code of Practice.

It has not given a date for its response, and the recommendations have not been made public.

The independent reviewer, insurance lawyer Ian Enright, handed the report to the council several weeks ago. He says the review aims to tackle long-standing issues such as financial hardship and claims-handling guidelines.

The code was last reviewed four years ago.

insuranceNEWS.com.au understands that board members will meet later this week to discuss the review.
