ICA appoints two insurer CEOs to board
The Insurance Council of Australia says two executives appointed to its board at last week’s annual general meeting will bring extensive experience at a pivotal time.
Zurich Australia and New Zealand CEO Justin Delaney and Auto & General Asia Pacific CEO Ram Kangatharan were both appointed for 12-month terms, while outgoing Youi CEO Hugo Schreuder has stepped down from the board.
Mr Delaney has served as Zurich CEO since July 2021 and has more than 25 years’ experience in financial services, holding various senior positions. He also holds board positions with the Council of Australian Life Insurers and the Financial Services Council. Zurich, which is both a general and life insurer, has been an ICA member since 1983.
Mr Kangatharan joined Auto & General in 2012 following five years at Bank of Queensland where he was CFO and then COO. The group includes Budget Direct, Compare the Market in Australia, and as of last December iSelect.
“On behalf of the board, I am pleased both Justin and Ram have been able to join the board of the Insurance Council and I welcome their expert contribution,” President Nick Hawkins said.
“The new appointments bring extensive experience in both general insurance and financial services to the board at what is a pivotal time for the general insurance industry.”
