IBANZ gets new CEO

Management executive Denis Orme has been elected Chief Executive of the insurance brokers’ peak body in New Zealand.

The Insurance Brokers Association of New Zealand (IBANZ) – which will start operations on April 1 – was established after the Independent Insurance Brokers Association and the Corporation of Insurance Brokers of NZ voted last year to merge.

Mr Orme is President of the Turnaround Management Association in NZ and was until recently the CEO of Bartercard NZ.

He told Sunrise Exchange News the immediate goals for IBANZ are to improve professionalism through education and training, produce a code of practice and be the voice for NZ brokers.

He says brokers have responded positively to the change and are looking forward to a new era.

IBANZ President-elect Robert Martin says Mr Orme’s leadership experience will enhance broker professionalism.
