IBANZ appoints new CEO
The Insurance Brokers Association of New Zealand (IBANZ) has appointed former broker Gary Young as its new CEO.
Mr Young, a former President of the Corporation of Insurance Brokers of NZ (CIBNZ), was a leading light in moves to unite the corporation and the group representing small local brokerages, the Independent Insurance Brokers Association. He was MD of major NZ brokerage Heath Lambert until that company’s Asia-Pacific operations were bought out by Marsh in March 2004.
Mr Young told Sunrise Exchange News he aims to lead the newly merged organisation through the difficult task of regulating the NZ insurance market.
“One of the main challenges will be leading the association through the new regulations,” he said. “I want to raise the professional levels of the industry and push the education of brokers to meet the demands of regulation.”
Mr Young will take over from Acting CEO Malcolm Congdon on April 3.
