IAG wins as awards fever re-emerges
Even more awards for general insurance companies and other assorted players as yet another publisher tries to give itself an industry profile. This time it’s Australian Banking & Finance magazine, with its second annual round of insurance awards. The announcement comes less than one month after the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance/Asia Insurance Review awards.
The Australian Banking & Finance Award winners were: IAG for best general insurance company, Wesfarmers for best regional insurer, Aon for best insurance broker; AAMI Comprehensive Motor for best general insurance product; Swiss Re for best reinsurer; IAG CEO Michael Hawker for best Australian insurance executive; and Australian Pensioners Insurance Agency for best niche insurer.
The judging panel included Macquarie Bank director Helen Nugent, Ernst & Young partner Andrew Price, and KPMG head of insurance Brian Greig.
And yet another award, although this one at least reflects the opinions of people rather closer to the coalface. Staff at underwriting agency Sportscover have voted Marsh broker Les Beattie as their international broker of the year. Sportscover has been running its own award for the past four years.
