Home and contents customers satisfied
Most policyholders in a new survey by consumer organisation Choice have expressed satisfaction with their home and contents policies.
Choice says more than 75% of the 3000 members who took part in its latest general insurance survey were satisfied with their home insurance and 81% with their contents cover.
The results, published in the November issue of Choice magazine, show a variety of insurers featuring results in the state-by-state survey, with home policies from Comminsure, ING, ANZ and QBE earning most mentions in the “best buys” section.
Ansvar, GIO, ING, QBE and Suncorp rated most mentions in the contents survey recommendations.
Choice says storm and water damage was the most common reason for survey respondents making a claim, and almost half of all claims reported in the survey were settled within two weeks or less.
About 40% of the respondents said they shopped around last time their insurance came up for renewal. More than 75% said they have been with the same insurer for five years, and the average length of time with one insurer was nine years.
