Former BHP company secretary Richard St John has been appointed secretary to the HIH royal commission. Mr St John quit BHP earlier this year after 12 years’ service, saying he wanted to pursue new challenges. 

Highly praised by BHP MD Paul Anderson, Mr St John is understood to have started work at the royal commission immediately. He has less than a month to put his support team together before the commission begins its work.
