GIO’s home and contents products have topped a survey by consumer organisation Choice.

Policies have been rated on a scale of 0 to 100 based on policy terms and conditions, with GIO Platinum (A) judged the best product with a combined home and contents score of 86 and Suncorp Platinum (A) in second place on 83.

Ansvar Insurance’s MaxiCover was third with 82 while GIO Classic rated fourth with 79 and Australian Unity Elite Care was fifth on 76.

RACV home insurance rated the lowest combined score of the insurer’s policies evaluated with 46.

Choice says some insurers did not take part in the survey because they are reviewing their policies while several others declined to take part.
