Four Corners probes insurers’ methods
The ABC’s Four Corners program tonight will focus on the “humiliating and harmful” practices of insurers investigating traumatised police officers.
The ABC says growing numbers of officers are suffering post-traumatic stress disorder but are being “treated like criminals” and subjected to physical and electronic surveillance.
“Claims for compensation and psychiatric treatment are being met with scepticism, resistance and lengthy delays,” the program’s promotional material says.
“And insurers are going to extraordinary lengths to avoid payouts.”
The episode, Insult to Injury, will be shown at 8.30 tonight on ABC1.
