Footnote: Ale’s well that ends well

Insurers and beer-lovers can breathe again. Despite a brewing calamity late last week, Tasmanian boutique brewer J. Boag and Son has escaped relatively unscathed.  A big local insurance claim was tipped after a stainless steel vessel for cooking 9 tonnes of water and grain was overloaded by mistake.

But Public Affairs director Lyndon Adams said any claim for the damage incurred “will only be small.” Besides which, the brewery is now insured by its parent company, Sam Miguel, in the Philippines.
