Flood inquiry ready for final hearing

The federal flood inquiry will hold its final public hearing tomorrow, with several expert agencies to give evidence via video link.

The hearing will begin with representatives from Sydney Water, before submissions from the Australian Building Codes Board, Standards Australia, Engineers Australia and the NSW Reconstruction Authority.

The House of Representatives Standing Committee on Economics began the inquiry into the insurance industry’s response to the 2022 floods last August. It has heard from major insurers, government agencies and experts, and travelled to flood-affected communities.

An online survey for people to report their experiences will close this Wednesday.

The committee is due to report its findings by October 18.
