Experts consider the world of claims

The continuing evolution of the claims sector will be under the microscope on the Gold Coast this week as 150 leaders in the claims sector, exhibitors and insurance experts gather for the annual Australasian Claims Convention.

Hosted by the Australasian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters (AICLA), the convention combines entertainment with a rich variety of educational opportunities. Keynote speakers include Insurance Ombudsman Sam Parrino, Suncorp Group Executive General Insurance Diana Eilert and Zurich Head of Claims Stephen Brooks.

AICLA President Andrew Thomas says the convention will look at claims from many perspectives.

“The need for the efficient handling of claims is a top priority these days,” he told Sunrise Exchange News.

“It’s crucial to the insurers’ bottom line, and it’s vital that loss adjusters and other claims professionals attending come away with a clear understanding of the dynamic changes taking place.

“We’re all working in a highly competitive industry, and the claims sector is no different. There’s a lot to discuss.”

The convention closes on Friday afternoon after a full day of workshops offering participants 10 choices. Mr Thomas says the exhibition area has been well supported by companies providing claims-linked services.
