EQC takes almost 8000 Cook Strait claims
New Zealand’s Earthquake Commission has received 7899 claims relating to last month’s Cook Strait tremors.
It says 4549 claims stem from the July 21 event, which caused damage in Wellington and injured four people.
Some 2715 are from the August 16 quake that damaged buildings in Seddon, with 635 relating to a July 19 event. About 65% of claims are from the North Island.
