EQC kicks off earthquake education campaign
The NZ Earthquake Commission (EQC) has enlisted ad agency M&C Saatchi to create a campaign to educate the public about what to do before, during and after an earthquake.
The EQC, which is the country’s main provider of natural disaster insurance for residential property, wants the threat of major earthquakes to receive some serious public attention.
EQC Communications Adviser Jo Martin told Sunrise Exchange News the new “Faultline” campaign is aimed at updating the public. About 15,000 quakes are recorded in NZ every year.
EQC campaigns in the past have focused solely on what people should do to protect themselves and their properties. But Ms Martin says the new campaign “has a shift in focus to why you need to do those things”.
