Drivers want cyclists licensed
A poll of Brisbane motorists by motor insurer Budget Direct has found 60% of motorists believe cyclists should be licensed.
The survey respondents say licences would make it easier to police cyclists’ behaviour, and 75% of the drivers polled also want cyclists held responsible for offences such as disobeying road rules and riding while drunk.
Errant cyclists can be fined for flouting road rules but unlike car drivers do not face the demerit point penalty system.
