Code review submissions close

The deadline for responses to an issues paper regarding the General Insurance Code of Practice review closed last Friday, with many submissions yet to be received.

Of the trade bodies, insurers and consumer groups contacted by insuranceNEWS.com.au on Friday, most had not yet made submissions but expected to do so in the following days.

Independent reviewer Ian Enright says responses will be published on the review’s website.

The next stage of the review begins next week, with public consultations in Victoria and NSW.

The first, on December 10 in Melbourne, allows interested parties to schedule a 20-minute, one-on-one session with Mr Enright. A similar event will be held in Sydney on December 12.

Further consultation sessions will be held early next year, on a date to be set. A final report, including recommendations for changes to the code, is expected to be delivered to the Insurance Council of Australia board in May.
