Cluster looks to overseas brokers
National broking cluster IBNA has taken on an overseas brokerage – something that the other major clusters have also been contemplating.
Auckland-based Mahony Trendall & Jack (MTJ) is the new member of Sydney-based IBNA. MTJ is also a member of NZ’s Independent Insurance Brokers Association.
MD Dennis Mahony discussed membership in January with IBNA Chairman Gary Gribbin, who took it to the group’s board. MTJ is a medium-size brokerage focusing on commercial and industrial clients.
IBNA says the move means that members can offer a broader service to clients with exposures in NZ. A review next year will ascertain whether IBNA will seek to take on more NZ members.
