Claims technicians get their own institute

A new industry body, the Institute of Claims Technicians (ICT), will be launched in Sydney next month to meet the educational requirements of loss adjusters.

It has been developed by the peak body supporting claims specialists – the Australasian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters (AICLA).

Those involved in handling and processing claims for insurance brokers, loss adjusters or contractors are eligible for membership.

AICLA Secretary Tony Libke told Sunrise Exchange News the group has worked with NIBA to establish a three-subject Certificate III claims technician study program. Completion of the course is required for qualified claims technician status.

“The course provides fundamental skills and information on the financial services industry, negotiations, settling claims and communications,” he said.
