NIBA has recommended that its members immediately seek independent legal advice on what they need to do to protect their own interests. In written advice to its members, NIBA said brokers should cease placing business on behalf of their clients with HIH companies; advise existing clients who have HIH group insurance about the present situation and seek their instructions; and consider their obligations and rights if they act under binder or agency agreements with the HIH group.
