CGU hosts bushfire fundraiser
CGU went above and beyond its primary role of paying claims to bushfire victims by hosting a glitzy fundraising bash in Melbourne on Saturday night.
Held at Melbourne’s Crown Palladium, “Containment Lines at Crown” featured appearances from celebrities and sports stars.
Guests also took part in a fundraising auction that offered laps in a V8 Supercar, a corporate suite entertainment package, holiday accommodation and shares in greyhounds and racehorses.
All performers and entertainers donated their time to the event free of charge.
CGU Claims GM Ben Bessell says all money raised will be handed to the Kinglake Football and Netball Club to distribute funds for reconstruction projects such as schools and community facilities.
Hundreds of homes in the Kinglake area were destroyed and more than 40 residents were killed in the February 7 bushfires.
“As Victoria’s largest regional and rural insurer, many CGU customers have been impacted by the devastating bushfires, and from the outset our focus has been on helping them rebuild their lives as quickly as possible,” Mr Bessell said.
