Catastrophe losses continue to climb

Claims from last summer’s Queensland floods have reached $939 million, up from $908 million last month, according to the Insurance Council of Australia.

But figures for the NSW storms and flooding have been revised down slightly to $121 million from $122 million.

Insured losses from bushfires in Tasmania have reached $89.1 million, up $1 million. The bill for bushfires in Coonabarabran, NSW, is steady at $35 million.

Claims from all the summer’s disasters total $1.18 billion, up from $1.15 billion last month.
