Carlos claims hit $4.5 million

Damages continue to mount in the Northern Territory as claims from Cyclone Carlos reach $4.5 million.

A TIO spokesman says almost 1000 claims have been received since the tropical storm swept through Darwin last month.

She says the insured losses are already four times the $1.1 million in damages caused by Cyclone Helen in 2008.

The spokesman told insuranceNEWS.com.au the majority of claims are building-related and caused by tree and water damage.
