Canberra storm damage reached $15 million
Claims estimates for storm damage in Canberra on December 2 have reached $15 million, and might climb even higher as claims continue to come through, according to the Insurance Disaster Response Organisation (IDRO).
The storm brought with it strong winds and heavy rain, uprooting trees and damaging cars, homes and businesses. It also caused power outages across the city.
IDRO National Co-ordinator Chris Henri says most claims so far have been for damaged roofs and cars, and there have been some isolated cases of severe damage to homes and commercial properties. But he expects more claims will come through as claims continue to be assessed.
“We expect that claims may be further boosted by a number of commercial claims, which take some time to assess,” Mr Henri said.
