…but Victorian lawyers don’t want tort reform

While the Law Council is busy with its own campaign, the Victorian Bar Council has warned it will make an election issue out of common law rights if the state Government tries to bring in harsher tort reforms demanded by the Ipp Report.

The Ipp Report recommendations are being considered by state and territory ministers, who will respond to a ministerial summit due to be held early next month.

But the legal body in Victoria is strongly opposed to any further reforms that it says will take away the legal rights of injured victims.
