There is no reason to get too excited yet over the recently reformed builders’ warranty scheme. Dexta Managing Director Ashram Kamha said the state governments involved are still working on the fine print of the package. “Everyone in the industry wants to see the package finalised before they step in,” he said. 

The NSW and Victorian governments introduced a more uniform scheme in early March in the hope of making the scheme more attractive to insurers. So while most insurers look on and wait for the technicalities to be cleared up, Mr Kamha said there is still no doubt that the reformed package will be more attractive to the industry.
